(~) <br />Dennis Chantland asked what benefit would come to the. City if the <br />property were developed into homes. Cook stated that ,obvious tax funds <br />v?ould come from such a development but that the issue bras not that <br />simple, even if the development cost snore in services~,than taxes paid <br />there was'still..the question of raising funds to buy the course initi~.lly <br />Dahl stated that the open space advantages should be considered if the <br />Board has always included this property as a part of public open space. <br />Motion by Smith, seconded by Cook to state that the Park Board feels <br />from a purely open space point of view the golf course should be <br />preserved. Motion carried 6-0. Dahl abstained. Jasinski suggested <br />that the next consideration should be at what cost the golf course <br />should be preserved. Cook stated that he did not want to wipe out <br />everything else in order to buy the golf course. Dahl indicated that <br />she would like to see this as part of a larger bond issue program. <br />Gunderman stated that the Park Board needed ~ mere specific financial <br />figure in order to assess the impact of this cost on other park plans. <br />Michael Roeca stated that he felt that it ~srhould be realized that the <br />golf course was not a disaster areas and that minor expenses could <br />make big improvements. Motion by Dahl, seconded by Sullivan that <br />the Park Board recommends that the City Council take no action on the <br />golf course until a professional appraisal is made so that this figure <br />could be analyzed in terms of the total park plan. Motion carries <br />7-0. The Board stated that they would like the figure by the September <br />meeting, if possible. <br />Planning Commission <br />DGhl asked if the Planning Commission had considered the community <br />facilities plan. She was notified that it had not but that the Park <br />Board would be appraised of that meeting. <br />Irondale Lighting <br />Board was notified that the project to light a recreation area at <br />Irondale High School had been reconsidered and approved by the School <br />Board. <br />M.R.P.A.. <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Dahl that the Park Beard write a letter <br />su'p'porting increased LAUjCON funds . Carried 7-0. <br />New Park and Recreation Director <br />Gunderman requested that the staff provide a salary survey for Park and <br />Recreation Directors and Smith requested of the City Manager that a <br />Park Board representative be involved in the hiring of a new Director. <br />Meeting was adjourned at 10: ~.l p.rn. <br />Respectively submitted, <br />Robert M.
