PARR BOARD MINUTES <br />March l3, 174 <br />The meeting was called to order at 8:03 p.m. <br />Board members present: Cook, Dahl, Gunderman, Jasinski, Smith, Sullivan, <br />~-~Teissman and Council Representative Eagon. <br />Others present: Dottie Stone, League of Women Voters; Ed Bader, Irondaie <br />Hockey Coach; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Picha and Marlyn Sorum, City residents; <br />Charles Corlett, Assistant Director and Robert Ztiriclclund, Director of Parks <br />and Recreation. <br />The minutes of the_regular meeting of February 13, 197 were approved as <br />submitted. <br />Agenda additions: Capital Improvements Program and Election of Officers. <br />Alley Vacation <br />It was expT~,ined to the Board that a property owner on lath Avenue N.W. <br />betti~aeen County Road E and 3rd Street N.ti•J. v~ras requesting that a certain <br />portion of the dedicated alley between his property and Hansen Park be <br />vacated. It was suggested to the Board-that if they agreed with the <br />vacation, that all parts of the alley, not previously vacate d, should be <br />vacated at this time. <br />Motion by Smith to vacate all portions of the dedicated alley between <br />County Road E and 3rd Street N.W. bordering Hansen Park, not previously <br />vacated, be vacated. Seconded by Jasinski. Motion carried 7-0. <br />Bond Issue <br />The Board continued its discussion of the possibility of holding a bond <br />referendum for park system development. Dahl noted that she had received <br />telephone calls recently soliciting support for an ice arena. She stated <br />that this seemed to be the most talked about item at this time. Smith <br />remarked that any ice facility includes some type of studio rink so that <br />it could be more widely used by the community. Dahl informed the Board <br />that the consideration of a civic center was brought up at the Capital <br />Improvements hearing and that an ice facility was suggested as a possible <br />component of such a center. Jasinski stated that he favored a moderate <br />type of facility such as the Roseville Ice Arena. Cook and Smith both <br />noted a concern about financing and community feelings for an ice arena. <br />Smith stated that clot of new ideas had been developed about arena <br />construction and that all alternatives should be considered. Dahl <br />questioned the priority of the various potential facilities to be in- <br />cluded in a bond proposal. Gunderman reviewed other considerations: <br />
