~ ~ <br />PARK BOARD MINUTES <br />January 9, 1974 <br />The meeting .was called to order at 8:05 p.m. <br />Board members presento Cook, Dahl, Gunderman, Jasinski, Weissman <br />and Council Representative Eagon. <br />Board members absente Hagemeyer and Smith. <br />Others present: Judy Y~ove, League of Women Voters; Jack Eagon, Fritz <br />Werdousschegg and Larry House, Village residents; Charles Corlett, <br />Assistant Director and Robert Wicklund, Director of Parks and Recreation. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of December 5th were approved as <br />submitted.. <br />Minnesota Environmental Science Center ~~~'~9~~ <br />The Board reviewed the proposal submitted by Minnesota Environmental <br />Science Center. The proposal consisted of four partso <br />1. Landscaping Plans - Hansen Park 1,235.00 <br />2. .Community Planting Projects x.,720.00 <br />3. Community Involvement Series 1,531.00 <br />4. Maintenance and Development of Natural Areas 1,650.00 <br />Total $6,136.00 <br />The Board was informed that funds had not been appropriated for these <br />projects so that financing had to be considered in reviewing the <br />proposal. Dahl noted that she felt the landscaping of Hansen Park <br />was a critical concern as the erosion problem caused by the ditch was <br />becoming hazardous. It was explained that some $20,000 was appro- <br />priated for landscaping at Hansen Park as a part of the Capital Improve- <br />ments Program but that was not to occur until 1976 and the ditch problem <br />was more immediate than that. Dahl further stated that a program in <br />which citizens could participate was needed. Further discussion was <br />deferred until the item concerning the bond issue was considered. <br />Vermont Park <br />Park plans concerning the Vermont Park were reviewed for the Board <br />and Mr. Larry House, a neighborhood resident. A survey was taken <br />to determine what people in the community desired and to indicate <br />preference for the following facilities <br />1. Play Area <br />2. Ball Field <br />3. Skating Rink <br />4. Shelter <br />
