There will be speakers on all three areas, as well as discussions in small groups. This will be followed by:a full session on citizen involvement in problem solving. All Board members should plan to attend. Trails 'The Board reviewed the final draft of the trail map as developed by Terry Aitken of the Citizens Study Committee. The Board expressed its appreciation for Mr. Aitken's efforts and requested he be asked to attend the May meeting for a brief discussion. Goals for 1873 The Board discussed the validity of attempting to set goals on a yearly basis. There was confusion over what kinds of projects were appropriate for the Park Board's involvement. One obvious approach is to study and report on various problems. It was suggested that the idea be broadened to include more than one years time span. Each Board member was requested to submit written suggestions for Park Board goals to the Department prior to May 9, 1973. These will be sent out with the agenda and discussed at the May meeting. Department Report 1. The Board received copies of the updated Comprehensive Park P~.an. It was noted that this plan was the basis for the Depart- ment's Five Year Capital Improvements Budget and was an extremely significant document. 2. The Village Council and Ramsey County have approved a resolution for County purchase of the Rush Lake area. The resolution includes several stipulations including the requirement for a written agreement between the Village and the County as to , development and operating plus. The agreement must be completed by September 1973• 3. The Lighting Committee has held its first meeting and will be ` meeting ©n April 18 with representatives from the School District'. ,; Shoreview and Arden Hills. ~-. The Board was notified by the Council there will be a Public Haring on the Capital Improvements Budget on April 25. Cook and Dahl were appointed to represent the Park Board at that hearing.
