~ ? <br />i'1AMIPIG Or LOA1G LAKE SITE <br />Smith suggested that the site should be named now to avoid confusion when <br />development begins. <br />Gunderman stated that prematurely naming the park might disrupt the purchase <br />agreement. <br />Smith stated that Joe Hipp had done a.lot for the Village and that the area <br />would probably be called Hipp Park anyway so why not .name .it after him. <br />Sherlock disagreed, stating that Joe Hipp had been fairly compensated and had <br />cost the Village money by dragging the case through tour t. <br />Smith replied that you can't criticize him for making money but you should <br />consider his years of service, including using personal funds to meet the <br />Village Payroll and employing youngsters on his farm. <br />Cook stated that the newer residents would not identify with the name Hipp. <br />He suggest that the obvious name was Long Lake Park. <br />The Board deferred discussion until the February meeting. <br />llEFARTMETdT' REPORT <br />The Park and Recreation department reported on the following matters: <br />. 1. The stew Brighton Park Board was accepted as a charter <br />member of the Minnesota Recreation and Park Association's <br />Board and Commission section. Board Chairman Arlyn <br />Gunderman was elected vice-chairman of the newly formed <br />section. <br />2. The Skating Program. <br />3.
