<br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />October 28. 1986 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Announcements and Updated. continued <br /> <br />The Salvation Army invited the Mayor to attend a luncheon <br />Thursday. October 30. 1986; as the Mayor is unable to go. Brandt <br />stated she would attend. <br /> <br />Sinda advised council that the furniture consultant is able to <br />purchase more new furniture than anticipated for less than the <br />allocated amount due to direct purchase from the factory and the <br />volume; asked if council wanted to use the dollars to purchase <br />more new furniture. or use less dollars and keep some of the <br />serviceable furniture (ie. squad room could either use chairs <br />currently in council chambers, or the city could purchase new <br />chairs with writing surfaces). <br /> <br />Benke stated it is a good opportunity. but would like to see an <br />update on the options. Schmidt suggested we look to see if the <br />bargain is necessary; if it is neeeded and is going to be <br />replaced in good time. would have no Objection to moving ahead <br />for the savings. provided nothing is being wasted. <br /> <br />Sinda stated final specifications would be coming to council. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Gunderman stated if we can save money and have first class. go <br />ahead; but don't buy two because it's cheaper. <br /> <br />Council set Monday. November 24. 1986. about 6:00 p.m.. for a <br />workshop with Jim O'Meara. O'Connor & Hannan. to review tax law <br />changes. O'Meara will later advise the location of the dinnerl <br />workshop. <br /> <br />Gunderman stated he had met with the Lions Club and feels it <br />would be very appropriate to have a liaison; would be worthwhile <br />and meaningful to attend their meetings quarterly. if not month- <br />ly. Sinda stated Gary Ellis. Liquor Director. is a member as <br />staff liaison. <br /> <br />il <br /> <br />Benke stated if Gunderman worked with the Lions. Benke would <br />work with Gunderman in that regard. <br /> <br />In response to Schmidt's request.
