Park Board <br />January 6, ~1 <br />s <br />4 <br />Department being responsible for several scattered, unusable pieces of <br />land as most developers would rather give land than money and the type <br />of developments being undertaken are not large enough to result in <br />desirable dedicatory parcels. Therefore it would appear that there <br />are no legal avenues concerning dedication that would be of value to <br />New Brighton at this time. <br />With regard to provision of recreation space in multiple dwelling <br />projects, the new zoning ordinance is very specific. A stated amount <br />of "green area" is required for each unit in developments from R-3 to <br />R-4. In PRDs and R-5 developments, the requirements are flexible and <br />are at Council discretion. <br />The Board discussed the issue and Sherlock and Hagemeyer were appointed <br />as a sub-committee to explore possible Park Board recommendations on <br />the matter. <br />Long Lake Park <br />No new information was available since the last discussion at the <br />November 24 special meeting. <br />Planning Commission <br />Dahl reported on the recent Planning Commission meeting dealing with <br />the comprehensive plan.- The Commission is taking the Village section <br />by section and considering alternative zonings. The recent meeting <br />was concerned with the section of New Brighton west of Long Lake Road <br />and north of 694. The majority of the area is R-1 although the <br />possibility of an R-5 zoning on the northwest corner of 694 and Silver <br />Lake Road was discussed. The Park Board is invited to a meeting of <br />the Human Rights Committee on Monday, January 18, to discuss the social ,' <br />aspects of planning. <br />Department Report <br />The road at Hansen Park was discussed. The department is exploring <br />ways of regula ting traffic. <br />The Park Board conducted elections and Gunderman and Hagemeyer were <br />re-elected as chairman and vice-chairman respectively without opposition. <br />Smith and Barnhill, were appointed to represent-the Park Board in <br />discussions with School District 621 on increased utilization of school <br />facilities for recreation. <br />Meeting was adjourned at 10:45. <br />Robert M.
