PARK BOARD MEETING <br />February 4, 1970 <br />The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. <br />Present: Barnhill, Dahl, Hansen, Morris. <br />Absent: Hagemeyer, Gunderman <br />Weissman appeared at 8:37 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of January 14 stand as submitted. <br />Chairman Morris introduced MreDon Barnhill as a new Park Board member <br />and informed the Board that Mrs. Charles Dahl had been reappointed also <br />to a 3-year term. <br />Presentation Mississi pi Street Crossing of Rick Creek <br />The Village Director of Public Works presented preliminary plans for <br />the crossing of Rice Creek at Mississippi Street. Five preliminary plans <br />were presented. <br />Motion by Hansen, seconded by Dahl that of the plans submitted Plan A <br />appears to be the most acceptable to the Park Board. <br />Carried <br />Consideration of offer of land Adjacent to Sunnyside Park <br />The Board reviewed the letter from the Village Attorney to the Village <br />Manager dated January 5, 1970 relating to property adjacent to Sunnyside <br />Park. <br />A map showing the property under consideration was also presented. <br />Motion by Dahl, seconded by Barnhill to recommend to the Village Council <br />that the Village purchase property owned by Mrs. Starks of 250 North <br />McCarrons Blvd., St. Paul according to the outline of a letter dated <br />January 5, from the Village Attorney to the Village Manager. <br />Carried <br />Architectural Services- Building Concept 7th Street Park Site <br />The Board considered a request from the Council for greater explanation <br />as to the Boards desire for an architect to work on building plans for a <br />structure in the 7th Street Park site. The following represents a <br />summary of the Board's comments: <br />There is a concern that a shelter is needed now which could later be <br />incorporated into the recreation building which is acknowledged that there i <br />a problem in that the Board has not considered the functional concept <br />of the recreation building. <br />An architect may have some idea but it is very difficult to design the <br />entire structure until intent of building has been determined. <br />An architect is needed to help determine cost alternates. <br />Again., there is concern that during the 1970-71 winter season <br />
