J <br />Park Board <br />.July 9, 1969 <br /> <br />2 <br />VETERAN'S. FIELD DISCUSSION: <br />Mr. Glen Beggin appeared to discuss Veteren's Field. He questioned <br />baseball fields for park plan. He stated there are not enough <br />fields plannedr there are 24 baseball teams,. of these 15 can be <br />considered as being comprised of New Brighton residents. <br />MVAA 14 teams 8 New Brighton <br />Major Division 5 2 New Brighton <br />Suburban Division 3 New Brighton <br />Legion Team 1 New Brighton <br />Babe Ruth 1 New Brighton <br />Irondale <br />Highview <br />Request was made to convert Veteran's Field to a major league size <br />baseball field. <br />Motion by Morris, seconded by .Hansen to request Brauer and Associates <br />to prepare sketch plan for Veteran's Field of the total area, <br />including a major league ball diamond. Carried <br />Motion by Hansen, seconded by Morris that Brauer and Associates <br />review site plan, 7th Street to equalize major league baseball and <br />softball diamonds. Carried <br />INSTALLATION OF COMMUNICATIONS FOR SHELTERS <br />Motion by Hagemeyer, seconded by Gunderman to alter original plan <br />on inside phones (minutes 6/11/69) to provide outside phone. <br />Consideration and installation of inside phones cannot be practically <br />installed. Carried <br />Chairman Gunderman presented a letter received from Donald Reissman <br />which was discussed. <br />BARRICADING - 7TH STREET N.W. <br />Mrs. Neumann requested the barricading of 3rd Street and 5th Street N< <br />on the east side at such times as contractor is not working <br />SILVER LAKE,R~AD PARK SITE <br />The Board retaliated its request that Silver Lake Road park site <br />„be"barricaded where the entrance is located. The Board was informed <br />that this request was transmitted to the Department of Public Works <br />and is attempting to find out why this had not been done previously. <br />Motion by Hagemeyer, seconded by Morris to adjourn the meeting at <br />11:55. Carried. <br />
