Fisher, Mr. 5kiba, <br />~.. s <br />Chairman Morris introduced E11en Dahl, new member to the Park Board. <br />BOARD CONSIDERATION OF PROPERTY ABUTTING ERIN COURT <br />The Board considered the Council referral for recommendation relative <br />to park property adjacent to Erin Court. <br />Motion by Hansen seconded by Hagemeyer to~~recommend that the Council ~',: <br />do nothing with the area except for getting a single apprasial on the <br />lot that would be directly north of Lot 28 and that Brauer and <br />~~N$~ Associates be instructed to prepare preliminary concept design for tha-~ , <br />tY ~~ area north of Erin Court. Carried <br />~ ~ ~~ <br />A~~~ OAK WILT ALLEGATION 7TH STREET PARK SITE <br />`~~~ Manager reported on the contacts he had with Dr. ~Tohnson of the <br />University of Minnesota who stated that there was every indication that <br />Oak Wilt exists in the area; however, tests run proved to be negative. <br />Further tests are going to be made and also other personnel from the <br />university will be visiting the area. <br />DISCUSSION 1969-70 SKATING PROGRAM <br />The skating season will begin sometime in mid December and go through <br />late February, All warming houses are planned to be opened and staffed <br />between the hours of 4-9 p.m. Monday through Friday and IO-9 p.m. <br />Saturdays and Sundays. Recruitment for personnel is now underway to <br />provide adequate staffing. <br />Members of the Board stated that they would 13ke to see more instructions <br />posted on rink sites with greater emphasis on restricting hockey <br />activities on free skating areas. <br />NAME THE PARK CONTEST <br />Chairman Morris reported on his meeting with representatives of various <br />groups regarding Name the Park contest. He offered these observations: <br />There appears to be interest, but lack of strong feelings among <br />residents. Three factors indicated a problem with this type of contests <br />1. The names are there now <br />2. There is no insurance of Council acceptance of the names <br />(a. Council may decide a name of their owns such as, <br />name a park after a specific individual or historical event, <br />b. citizen reaction against a specific name which is selected) <br />3. There appears to be a lack of strong backing for the project. <br />
