Andersq~~ctor Parks and Recreation Re: Ramsey County/City of New Brighton Joint Powers Agreement The Ramsey County Board has approved the master plan for Long Lake Park. The plan was approved as amended by the New Brighton City Council. The County Board also approved a Joint Powers Agreement in different form than the city approved agreement. The revised Joint Powers Agreement must be reviewed and approved by the Park Board and City Council. Item #7 was revised: Pre- 7. The parties expressly agree that transfer of fee title to Long Lake Park from the City to the County prior to the termination date of this agreement shall not accelerate the date of termination. It is agreed between the parties that their re- Language spective responsibilities as defined herein shall continue to be binding and enforceable until modi- fied or amended by mutual agreement of the parties; provided, however,. it is further agreed that the parties shall in good faith on or before December 31, 1984 renegotiate terms of this agreement, specifically those terms relating to the responsibilities of the respective parties for the operation and maintenance of the Long Lake Regional Park. The new language gives the City a full range of options in 1984 and guarantees that the agreement remains in effect even if a new agree- ment cannot be reached. The new language appears to be a good com- promise for both parties. The next step, if the New .Brighton .City Council approves the new language in the Joint Powers Agreement, is the Metro Council Park .and Open Space Commission. The tentative date for consideration is June 7, 19$2 with full Council consideration to occur later in June. Is June a good month for a celebration?
