April 27, 1982
To : New Brighton Park Boa``r~~©©d
From: Maurice H. Andersi~~~'rl~Yrector Parks and Recreation
Re: Long Lake Surface Use Ordinance
The City .had adopted a surface use ordinance for Long Lake
in May of 1979. This ordinance was provisionally approved
pending the establishment of final xules and regulations.
by the Department of Natural Resources pertaining to lake
surface use ordinances. This provisional approval has
expired and there is no Long-Lake Surface Use Ordinance
currently in effect.
This current draft has been reviewed by the City Manager,
Chief of Police, Ramsey County Sheriff ~7ater Patrol, City
Attorney, the Department of Natural Resources and the Long
Lake Improvement Association. No response has been re-
ceived from the Long Lake Improvement Association. The
other parties responded with favorable comments and sugges-
tions far minor changes which have been incorporated into
this draft.
This ordinance is superior to the old ordinance but has
retained the bas~.c intent of the original ordinance
drafted by the Lake .Surface Use sub-committee of the
Park Board in the spring of 1979.
If the Park Board recommends approval of the ordinance,
it will be submitted to the Council for a first reading
on May 11th and a second reading and adoption on May 25th.
cc: Jim Fornell
