January 18, 1982
To: New Brighton Park Board
From: Maurice H. Anders,~~~ector Parks and Recreation
Re: Long Lake Planning Update
The draft master plan has been reviewed by the Study
Committee and is currently being revised by Ken Simons.
Some interesting developments have recently surfaced;.
among them are:
-An advisory City/County board to specifically
deal with Long Lake Park.
-A possible compromise with Metro Council on
the number of parking spaces for power boats.
-Possible New Brighton operation and fee collection
for the boat launch.
-The possibility of a separate fee collection for
the beach, allowing with City to raise greater
revenue than would be possible with a parking permit.
-A possible dual use picnic/camping facility at the
day camp site.
The revised plan should be available by about mid--February.
and we have scheduled a meeting of the Study Committee and
the Park Board for February 23rd, 7:3Ogma.t the golf course club-
house. Please contact the Parks and Recreation Department
at 633-8906 if you cannot attend. The combined Park Board/
Council meeting will be March 3rd.
