Members present: Carlson, Grimshaw, Gunderman, Hogan, Johnson, Olson,
Van Hatten, Council Rep. Schmidt.
Members absent: Dahl, Solberg
III. Correspondence
A. Council Report
Schmidt said a Finance Advisory Board had been set up. Approval
was given to the MTM for a special permit. Received a report
on the district survey, regarding turning solid waste into steam
energy. Innsbruck gravel site was approved for compost site.
The County may help financially with the compost site. Have
talked to Funk's attorney regarding Sunny Square.
Anderson said the log jam is broken regarding the Sunny Square
hold up. Closing is planned for Tuesday at 4:00. Expect to
break ground on the 14th and have the playground equipment in
this fall.
Schmidt said the next City Council meeting will be on the 15th
• because of the primary election.
Schmidt said the city is working on the financing for the downtown
development. The city is proposing to dig three new wells and put
in an iron filter system. Met with PCA - city will have to cover
its own costs --still gathering data.
Jim Fornell stated that drilling 2 wells may be better than 3.
It's the peak times that are bad and a th~-xd well may not help.
The savings would be substantial. Staff has a few options; one
is recommending a referendum leving 75~ and the city pickup the
250. Another option would be restricting water use per parcel.
Another option is limit the demand.
Gunderman asked if the pollution will eventually .go deeper.
Fornell said it is possible, but will be doing periodic tests.
Gunderman asked if the water would cleanse itself if it was pumped out.
Fornell said that's something they don't know.
Grimshaw asked what the cast would be to tie into the Minneapolis
water system.
Fornell said it is being looked at but cost prohibitive. It is
surface water and the taste is not good. Minneapolis would not
solve our peak demand problem because that's everyone's peak.
