Don't think it is necessary. <br />Carlson said he is not speaking in terms of the Council but the <br />public. The public wants to know when the money is transferred. <br />Tell them now how we want to handle the money. Want them to know <br />it is something we have been thinking about for a long time. <br />Anderson said he likes Van Hatten's idea. <br />Carlson and Johnson said they would be willing to help Van Hatten.. <br />Motion by Van Hatten, seconded by Carlson, to recommend that the <br />money from the sale of land from Long Lake Park be put into a <br />permanent fund and the interest be designated as follows: <br />-The entire cost of New Brighton's share of operation <br />and maintenance of Long Lake Park be taken from the <br />interest from the sale of Long Lake Park <br />-A fixed amount be added to the fund yearly to increase <br />• the dollar value <br />-The remainder of the interest be used for park purposes <br />as necessary. <br />Johnson asked if anything should be added about not touching the <br />principal. <br />Van Hatten said the intent is clear. <br />Johnson said we could add that only the interest be used. <br />Van Hatten said we can't tell them they can't. <br />Motion by Carlson, seconded by Olson, to amend the motion <br />recommending that the principal should not be touched. <br />Motion carried.
