Page 3 -March 6, 2007 New Brighton Council Minutes <br />• <br />Motion by Councilmember Burg, seconded by Councilmember Hoffman to waive the <br />reading and adapt the attached resolution. <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nays, Motion Carried <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements, and Updates <br />Municipal Advisory Commission Reports: <br />Dean Lotter-Gifu Manager <br />Mr. Lotter reported he will be on vacation, Director Jacobsonwill be assuming the role of <br />Acting City Manager. <br />Councilmember Marv Bari -Parks, Recreation, and Environmental Commission <br />Councilmember Burg attended the Employee Recognition breakfast, where City Sanitarian <br />Dave Fridgen was awarded the Michael J. Walker Spirit Award. A joint meeting was <br />attended with the Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission and Public Safety <br />Commission to discuss the issues related to the Disc Golf course at Hansen Park. <br />ouncilmember Ann Hoffman -Economic Develo meat Commission <br />ouncilmember Hoffman will attend the Economic Development Commission March 13th. <br />Gratitude was expressed to the Public Works crew for a job well done in the recent snow <br />storms. <br />Councilmember Sharon Doffing - Planning Commission <br />Councilmember Doffing congratulated Dave Fridgen for his award, appreciation was <br />extended to IT Coordinator for his extra efforts in working with the City's email issue. <br />Additionally; gratitude was expressed to Public Works in keeping the streets clear and safe <br />in the recent snow storms. <br />Councilmember Bauman reported the Public Safety Commission meeting was cancelled due <br />to the inclement weather. <br />Mayor Larson <br />Mayor Larson extended his gratitude to all employees for their contribution to the City. <br />Congratulations were extended to Scott Elwell-Firefighter of the Year, Tom Griffin-Patrol <br />Officer of the Year and Sergeant Mary Bitzan-Hieb-Police Officer of the Year. Mayor <br />Larson testified on behalf of Metro Cities to try to get the LGA formula changed to address <br />the needs of older cities. It also was reported that there is an item to eliminate Cities being <br />required to pay sales tax on purchases. Mayor Larson will be going to Washington, D.C. <br />arch 9-14'h <br />
