MINUTES <br />New Brighton Economic Development Commission <br />Regular Meeting -February 13, 2007 <br />7:00 a.m. <br />Members/Liaisons Present: Bob Benke, Gene Delaune, Dennis Flahave, Linda Harmon, Lisa <br />Harreld, Annie Hoffman, John Kaufhold, Steve Larson, Mark Nelson, Jirn Sculthorp, and Gary <br />Stang. <br />Members/Liaisons Absent: Bruce Nustad. <br />Staff Present: Dean Lotter, Grant Fernelius, David Black, Jim Williamette and Jennifer <br />Lavandowska. <br />Others Present: Robert Cunningham (TOLD Development Company), Gary Dreher (TOLD <br />Development Company) <br />Call to Order <br />Mark Nelson called the meeting to order at 7:00 a.m. <br />Approval of Minutes <br />The minutes of the January 9, 2007 meeting were presented for approval. All approved. <br />Commission Appointments <br />Black congratulated the three returning commission members, who were approved by the <br />Council. Black introduced Dean Latter, the new City Manager, to the Commission. <br />Northwest Quadrant Report <br />Proposed Developers <br />Black introduced Sob Cunningham and Gary Dreher of TOLD Development Co., which <br />responded to the City's Request for Qualifications for the mixed-used blocks on the east side of <br />the Northwest Quadrant. Cunningham said that TOLD began twenty years ago and has offices in <br />Minnesota; California; and Milwaukee, Wisc. The company has succeeded in constructing a <br />new building every year and has never had any serious financial difficulties. TOLD developed <br />the Excelsior and Grand project in St. Louis Park. A copy of their response to the Request fox <br />Qualifications was distributed to the Commission. Dreher added that TOLD has done a lot of <br />redevelopment in Seattle and also helped in the redevelopment of the downtown Richfield. <br />Delaune inquired to how many owners and employees the company has, where its headquarters <br />are located, and how this project compares to the others in the portfolio. Cunningham replied <br />that there are seven owners, roughly twenty-two employees and the headquarters are located in <br />the Twin Cities area. He added that Excelsior and Grand was aseven-year project that was done <br />in four phases. They worked very closely with the City staff in St. Louis Park and feel that they <br />Page 1 of 6 <br />
