June 2,.1982 Park Board Minutes
Page 2
Gunderman asked if the CIP information could be included
with the minutes or agenda.
Anderson said yes, with the agenda,
Johnson.. asked. if the Park.. Board should look at the Comprehensive
Plan at the same time.
Anderson said yes, the Council will be considering it June 22.
B. Update Long Lake Park
Anderson said he gave the manager a copy of the update he wrote
to be included in the City Hall Newsletter. Anderson handed
out information from Met Council staff, Ramsey County staff
(commentary before they approved the plan}. Also a letter
from C. Dayton on EIS and things he wants the city to do.
Gunderman said.. that the way it looks Met Council can't do
anything.
Anderson said that's correct from Dayton's-point of view.,
Anderson said it may not. .hurt for people to call the Parks and
Open Space people and ask them to continue moving on this
process.. If they. hold back on action, the property title can't
change hands. That means the city doesn't get that money In
interest. Tt's a good hunk of money, About $300 a day, The
EIS question is not going to be resolved for about six months,
Tf 'the ETS is ordered, it wi.l be about .a year. Tn that period
of time we would lose about $150,000. Think it is important to
get Met Council to move,. Their current intention is to make
approval on June 24th.
Gunde.rman asked what their pleasure was.
Dahl said it makes sense to call. Will call those she called
before.
Anderson said that calling a few people from. Met Council would.
be enough. Just want-them to know we are still kicking.
Van Hatten suggested sending a letter,
Dahl felt a personal call is far more effective.,
Gunderman asked what are Dayton's legal chances.
Anderson said none,... The state law Dayton cites has never been
written up, The law cannot be enforced unless the rules and
regulations are written. Attorney for Met Council said it
doesn't hold water-and a staff person said the same
VT, Old Business
None
