Schmidt <br />Roger 8lomquist <br />Janet Janacek <br />City Manager James fornell <br />Dear Addressees: <br />l .: <br />The Long Lake Improvement Association wants to be on record with respect <br />to the Regionai Park Development, and the negative effects the regional <br />park concept will have on both the Lake and the people residing thereby, <br />We do not object to development of the site fora park. We feel a park <br />will benefit ail citizens of New Brighton. We do object, however, to <br />overdevelopment of the Park Land, and the activities planned for the <br />lake surface use, as this overdevelopment and these activities interfere <br />with the peace, tranquility, property values, and the private lives of <br />the people. <br />Adjacent to the Park and the Lake, we demand no more privacy than any other <br />citizens. of the City of New Brighton. Our objections have been previously <br />stated and they are herein re-stated, for the record; <br />1) in General <br />The Park activities concentrated near the Lake will create an <br />undo amount of noise, confusion, and generally hazardous <br />conditions. The primary activities and therefore the primary <br />concentration of people, automobiles, boats, trailers, canoes, <br />sailboats, biking and hiking are concentrated on the Lakeshore. <br />This accounts for 78-$0'~0 of the population activity of the <br />entire Park. We feel the lake is too small, too narrow, too <br />shallow, and should not become a major attraction of the Park. <br />2) <br />More Specifically <br />The swimming beach is too large and very poorly located. <br />beach must be re-planned to the South end of the Lake. <br />now planned, the beach is Less than 85 yards from resi <br />houses.
