The site is located in the east half of Sec- <br />tion 20, Township 30N, Range 23W, City of New Brighton, Ramsey County, <br />MN. A proposed steamline extends into the City of Arden Hills. <br />5. Project Description: A modular type waste incinerator is proposed to be <br />built on five acres within a 33-acre site in New Brighton, MN. Alterna- <br />• tive site configurations are shown in Figure 5. The incinerator will <br />burn approximately 200 tons of unprocessed mixed municipal solid waste <br />daily and produce steam for sale to nearby industry. Potential steam <br />users include Minneapolis Hide and Tallow Co., Menglekoeh Rendering Co., <br />and Gordon Rendering Co. A u,000-foot steamline will follow the <br />Minnesota Transfer Railway Co., right-of-way; it will tunnel under Hwy. 8 <br />and cross I-35W using the existing railroad bridge. The facility should <br />be fully operational by 1985. <br />6. Reason for EAW Preparation: Determination of need for an EIS <br />MEQH Rule No. 3.038 <br />An EAW is mandatory for this pro,jeet. The EAW and comments about it will.. <br />be used to determine whether there are potential impacts from the pro3ect <br />that are of sufficient concern to warrant requiring a full EIS on the <br />project. <br />7. Estimated Construction Cost: $8 million. <br />8. Total Project Area: 5 acres; Pro~eet Length: X4,000 ft. (steamline) <br />9. Number of Residential Units: 0 <br />10.
