Park Development - North Innsbruck <br />Anderson said the Council.has been sent a letter from residents <br />concerning the city-owned gravel pit area that is requested to <br />be park land. The letter has been routed to the dark land. <br />The letter has .been routed to the Park Board for comment and <br />recommendation. In brief conversation..-.with the Mansfield's <br />they did not request anything in particular for the land.. Maybe <br />passive, open space, There ,is an easement from the south,. <br />nothing from the north. The land to-the east. is zoned R2 as is <br />the land to the south. North and west of the. property is RI. <br />Johnson said it is a good time to negotiate. <br />Anderson said all-the details can be worked out. later. <br />Motion by Dahl, seconded by Johnson to request that the <br />Council consider property as park land and direct staff <br />to investigate development options, including-park and open <br />space for this property. <br />Blomquist said Hidden Oaks. is not far away. <br />Anderson said the land probably would not be developed <br />extensively if it were to become a park. Maybe just open <br />space with a few picnic tables and playground equipment. <br />Motion. carried. <br />Anderson. said this could come back to the Park Board after <br />the Council considers it.. <br />Blomquist said there should be options or specific direction <br />when it goes to the Council or there may. be a negative re- <br />action. <br />Carlson said he hopes residents are not looking .for a Hansen <br />Park-type of park. <br />Anderson said we should get them involved in the planning. <br />They are aware of the size and limitations of the area. <br />B. Basic Industries Gift <br />Anderson said Basic Industries donated $610,00 to the. Park <br />and Recreation Department. <br />Dahl mentioned it would be kind of nice to use their gift as <br />a-way of getting our Gift Book off the ground and gieing them <br />recognition for the years they have donated. <br />Motion by Van Hatten, seconded by Carlson, to use the Basic <br />Industries gift as an introduction to our Gift Book and give <br />Basic Industries recognition for their years of gifts. <br />Motion carried. <br />
