<, <br />NEL^1 BRIGHTON PARK BOARD MINUTES <br />DECEMBER 5, 1984 <br />I. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 by chairperson Gunderman. <br />II. Members present were Carlson, Dahl, Gunderman, Hogan, Johnson, <br />Olson,-Rose, VanHatten and Council Representative Janecek. <br />Members absent were Seward. <br />III. The minutes of the November 7, 1984 meeting were approved as <br />submitted. <br />IV. Correspondence <br />A. Council Report <br />Councilperson Janecek reported that the Council had approved <br />purchase of fitness equipment from Wells Fargo and <br />authorized an appraisal of .property involved in the proposed <br />Hedlund exchange. <br />B. Long Lake Advisory .Committee <br />Carlson stated that work is progressing well on the park and <br />that the beach area is being developed and the refectory <br />building has been started. <br />C. Department. Report <br />Staff reported on department activities of the previous month. <br />V. New Business <br />A. City Hall Expansion <br />Gary Jones representing the Citizens Study Committee was <br />.present to review the proposed renovation of City Hall <br />with the Park. Board. The board supported the concept <br />of renovating the building but expressed concern that <br />the proposed amphitheater should be tied to park <br />development and possibly should not occur at Veterans <br />Park. VanHatten also expressed concern about the <br />configuration of 'the building and suggested increasing <br />the size of the Council Chambers. <br />B. Forestry Program <br />Rick Wriskey,-City Forester presented an overview of the <br />city forestry program and its activities. <br />C. Activity Report <br />Pam Schmitz presented a 1984 recreational activity report. <br />(attached) <br />
