For Immediate Release: <br />Public Meetings to be Held <br />On liegion's Park System <br />For. more information <br />contact the Pubfic <br />Information Office <br />612/291-6464 <br />Ken Red d ick <br />291-6422 <br />Friday, <br />June 29, 1984 <br />-Area residents will have an opportunity this summer to help shape parks <br />policy for the Twin Cities Area. <br />The Metropolitan Parks and Open -Space Commission, working with regional <br />implementing agencies, has scheduled a series of 12 point public meetings on <br />the parks and park reserves. The meetings are the first. step in revising the <br />Metropolitan- Council`s Development Guide/Policy Plan for Recreation Open Space. <br />"The meetings will give the public a chance to speak for or against any. <br />topic they consider important to the regional park system," said John Mauritz, <br />Council park planner. Some topics that may prompt discussion, he said, include <br />land acquisition, maintenance of regional parks and 'the fairness of park user <br />fees. <br />The Metropolitan Parks d Open Space Commission will co-sponsor each. <br />meeting with the implementing agency listed below. Each meeting will begin at <br />7:30 p.m. The schedule is: <br />--July 17, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, Northeast Park, 1615 N.E. <br />Pierce St. , Minneapolis. <br />--July 19, Washington County Board of Commissioners, Washington County <br />Courthouse board room, 14900 61st St. N., Stillwater.° <br />--July 24, Anoka County Board of Commissioners, Anoka County Courthouse <br />board room, 325 E.
