July 11, 1984 Park Board Minutes <br />Page 5 <br />Van Hatten said he couldn't see why the beach could not be <br />open next year. <br />Anderson said they had a problem with the road and it won't be <br />finished. <br />Johnson askedif the silt filling: is still on. <br />Anderson said the silt will-.not be available. <br />Anderson said. that Ramsey County may be coming back. to the <br />Park Board and Council with the move of the boat ramp back <br />to the swimming beach area. <br />The reason is to preserve the ice house and round house foundations. <br />Dahl said the Long Lake Advisory commttee.has, already approved it. <br />All seem in favor-of it including those living on_the lake! <br />Anderson .said-that his concern about. moving the boat launch is <br />that the City may get stuck having an attendant on for 6 months <br />out of the year.- <br />Johnson thought.. that .was going to be taken care of in the parking <br />lot design. <br />Anderson said if there were no power boats that would be bk but. <br />we'll-need to come up with x number of fishing boats, x. number <br />of canoes, .power. boats,. etc. and a way to limit use. <br />Anderson said he's quite sure it will have to be staffed. We <br />need to Look at the implications to the'City. <br />Anderson said Ken Simons has been :receptive to the idea of <br />using the large picnic group area for Stockyard Days. <br />Dahl said that sounds like there's super potential, <br />Solberg agreed. <br />Anderson said he has talked to'Joyce Kloncz and she is excited <br />about it. Joyce and the other Stockyard Days people would be <br />involved in the planning, There is one draw back and. that_is <br />if-the depot is moved they will no longer be on the :Nat'l <br />Register and ;the Historical Society would not. get any money as <br />they have in the past. <br />Anderson said-the revisions to the Master Plan -are good, Ken <br />Simons has. been sensitive to the concerns of the resdentsa <br />Van Hatten said that in regard ao the. Stockyard Days depot, alI <br />we are doing is substituting the depotR <br />Anderson said Joyce Kloncz hadn't ruled out the poss.ib~l y of <br />moving it. There is a possibility of getting some county <br />historical or state money. <br />
