C¢nt x
Midwest, Inc.
~ st,eadsry a c«,w Wrpornnn
YetaO on tAe Newlbk Stook Eunvpe
January 21, 1984
Re: PROPOSED RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT FOR 59 ACRES NORTH OF
CO. RD. E., WEST OF SILVER LAKE ROAD AND SOUTH OF SALEM
COVENANT CHURCH AND DRIFTWOOD NEIGHBORHOOD PARK.
Ladies and Gentlemen:
I am writing to invite you to a neighborhood informational meeting concerning development
of the J.U.O. property. The site, owned by the J.U.O. Partnership has been controversial as
to its use with the St. Judo's proposal the most recent request.
Centex Homes Midwest, Inc. has a purchase agreement with J.U.O. for about 55 acres of the
59 acre site. Centex Homes Midwest, Inc. is a division of Centex Corporation Dallas, Texas,
and listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Centex Corporation is a diversified company
with divisions in home building, general construction, cement and related products and energy
resources with annual sales of about 1 billion dollars.
Our purpose for the January 31st meeting is to introduce ourselves, show you projects which
we have done, listen. to your ideas, concerns and suggestions. We have not finalized plans for
the site, however, there are issues concerning public utilities, streets, open space/parks/trails,
and housing type/density that should be discussed before a plan is finalized and submitted to
the City of New Brighton.
Our planning and engineer team has been working with many technical issues and has prepared
a preliminary plan that will illustrate our ideas for site development. The feed back we gain
from this neighborhood meeting will assist us in preparation of plans for submission in February
to the City.
Since the adjacent neighborhood is quite large, we will be meeting at the Salem Covenant
Church located at the 5th Street and Silver Lake Road Intersection.
NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING
Place Salem Covenant Church
2655 NW 5th Street
New Brighton, MN 55112
Date Tuesday, January 31st
Time Tuesday Evening 7:30 p. m. to 9:30 p. m.
We look forward to meeting you next week and discussing plans for this project in your
neighborhood. If you have any questions, or cannot make the meeting, please feel free to give
Dick Putnam a call at 941-1070.
Sincerely,
_ JL~
Timothy Eller, President Dick Putnam
Centex Homes Midwest, Inc.
