NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD MINUTES <br />..FEBRUARY 1, 1984 <br />I. The meeting was called to order at 7:3A pm by Chairperson Gunderman. <br />IZ. Members Present: Carlson,. Dahl, Gunderman, Hogan, Johnson, Olson, <br />Rose, Solberg, Van Hatten, Council Rep. Janecek <br />Les Proper, City Engineer, Brenda Kruger., City <br />Planner, Len Kramer, Barr Engineering,. Dick <br />Putnam, Tandem Corp., Tom Boyce, Centex <br />ITI. Minutes <br />A. Minutes of December 7, 1983 Meeting were approved as submitted. <br />B. Minutes of January 4, 1984 Meeting were approved as submitted. <br />IV. Correspondence <br />A. Council Report <br />Janecek reported that the south basin only of Long Lake will be <br />closed April 30-June 8 for treatment. The Park Board is seeking <br />a senior member for current opening on the Board. Cable TV is <br />not producing what they promised in the .contract. The Silver <br />Lake Road bridge is scheduled for widening the. summer. of '85, <br />It is very dangerous for pedestrians; a six lane bridge is planned. <br />Johnson asked about the-cost of Long Lake treatment and what <br />the process was. <br />Anderson responded that the Long Lake treatment would cost <br />approximately .$250,000. Nitrate will be put into the sediment <br />so that nutrients won't release .into the water to promote algae <br />bloom. This is part of the cleanup project for the Rice Creek <br />Watershed District and there is Federal grant-money available. <br />B. Long Lake Advisory Committee <br />Dahl stated the committee met on January 18th. The beach building <br />design was changed somewhat to make it more serviceable. Bids <br />will be out in-the spring and hope to have construction of the <br />bathhouse done the end of the year. The committee passed the <br />same motion as the Park Board in regard to the Joint. Powers <br />Agreement. There was discussion on the waste energy .project. There is <br />much concern for its location in relation to the park.. Develop- <br />ment timelines for the park-are somewhat behind. <br />Anderson said Ramsey County asked William Bros. to move their;. <br />pipeline because it is under. ,the road for the beach... William <br />Bros. said they are not responsible for the move; a compromise <br />is being sought.. .:The county, railroad and pipeline company may <br />have to split the .cost. Very little development can go on beA <br />fore it is moved. <br />
