NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD MINUTES <br />JAI~?UARY 2 , 19.8 5 <br />I. The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm by Chairperson Gunderman. <br />II. Members present: Gunderman, Johnson, Olson, Rose, Seward, <br />Van Hatten. <br />Absent: Carlson <br />III. The minutes of the December 5, 1984 meeting were approved as <br />submitted. <br />IV. Correspondence <br />A. Council Report <br />None <br />B. Long Lake Advisory Committee <br />None <br />C. Department Report <br />Anderson reported department activities for the previous <br />month. <br />V. New Business <br />A. Long. Lake .Access <br />A.n~lerson reviewed requests .from boaters to .launch trailered <br />boats at the beach. during the swimming season. He also <br />reviewed information provided by the City Attorney which <br />apparently allows the City the option of allowing this use. <br />Van Hatten and Seward spoke in favor of allowing boat launching <br />during the swimming season if adequate safeguards for swimmers <br />are taken.. Gunderman stated that he felt a 15MPH speed limit <br />should be imposed.' Anderson rep7:ied that this ran contrary <br />to the lake surface use ordinance and was unenforceable. <br />.Johnson said he preferred not opening the area for launching <br />trailered boats until the beach was moved. <br />,..SECONDED BY OLSON_, TO RECOP-xMEND ,APPROVAL <br />.MOTION BY V~N_HATTEN <br />OF LIMITED (3 TRAILERED BOATS).
