May 23, 19$5
To. Hank Sinda, City Manager
From: Maurice H. Anderector of Parks and Recreation
Re: Progress of 1985 Goals
Capital Improvements
Playground equipment and the landscaping around it has been com-
pleted. Tennis court repairs and fencing are 85~ complete. The
fencing contractor is giving us headaches but the courts are
usable and he is making some progress. Work has begun on the
trail lighting system and the first phase will be operational
by late June. The Wells Fargo fitness court will be installed
north west of the tennis courts this summer. Seniors programs are showing a
very steady increase, new programs are being requested and there
appears to be increased demand for fee supported senior activities.
We have had considerable success with free activities such as a
hiking club and a daytime bridge group.
Golf Course
The course is probably in the best condition that it's been in
since we acquired it. Consistently improved maintenance practice s
and better turf maintenance equipment combined with a mild winter
and warm spring have resulted in a very attrative course. Mike
Walker, Park Maintenance Superintendent has been given supervisory
responsibility over Jim Skiba and as a result considerable improve-
