October 29, 1986
To: New Brighton Park Board
From: Maurice H. Anderson, Director of Parks and Recreation
Re: Long Lake Park Joint Powers Agreement
The. Ramsey County Board of Commissioners has. requested a
change in the Joint Powers Agreement between the city and
county regarding the Long Lake Advisory Committee. The
present structure calls for a 7 member committee; four
members to be appointed by Ramsey County, three members
appointed by the city. The county has more applicants
than it has had vacancies and therefore would like to
increase the size of the committee. Ramsey County would
like to increase the committee size to 9 members; 5 county
appointments and 4 city. The change to be effective
January 1, 1987.
The present agreement includes a requirement that one
committee member be drawn from the park service area
outside of Ramsey County. The county has attempted to
recruit applicants for this slot but has been unsuccessful
and requests that this provision be eliminated.
Recommendation: To recommend council approval of Joint
Powers Agreement changes as proposed by the Ramsey County
Board of Commissioners.
