May 2, 1986
To: New Brighton Park Board
From: Maurice H. Anderson, Director of Parks and Recreation
Re: Action Items, May Meeting
I will be out of town, attending a risk management seminar,
Wednesday, May 7 through Friday May 9, so I will miss the
May 7 Park Board Meeting. Pat Nelson-from our staff will be
in attendance as will Bill Midness from Damon Farber and
Associates.
Appointment The term of George Carlson as Park Board repre-
sentative to the Long Lake Park Advisory Committee has expired.
George has expressed a willingness to continue to serve in
that capacity for another three year term, however the Park
Board should provide the City Council with a formal recommendation.
Old Highway 8 Corridor Study Enclosed is a draft copy of the
study as prepared by Gair and Associates. I have recommended
that consideration be given to developing open space in the
Jones Lake area and a pedestrian/bicycle route to Long Lake
Park. If the Board has further comeents, note them in the
minutes and they will be forwarded to Mr. Gair for consideration.
Veterans Park The 6:30pm meeting with residents is intended
to solicit resident reaction to elements of the various plans.
The purpose of this meeting is to gather information not to
sell a particular plan.
The Park Board should, at its 8:OOpm meeting, provide Bill Midness
and ultimately me with a set of recommendations .for development
of a plan to be presented to the Council. If the Board feels
that it wants to discuss a final plan with residents before
sending it on to the Council, a special meeting should be scheduled
in mid May.
