f t <br />The Bel Air PTA is requesting $4,000 from the City of New <br />Brighton for the completion of our new playground. <br />A.__Need_Ex~erienced <br />1. Old, rusting equipment needed replacement. <br />2. A new integrated system could be used by more children. <br />3. More activities needed to build upper body strength. <br />4. A system should have spaces for both social and .physical <br />activity. <br />5. The playground should be attractive and engaging to <br />children. <br />B. Study Phase <br />1. The Playground Committee interviewed city park directors, <br />school personnel from several districts, and PTA officers from <br />other schools. <br />2. Each piece of existing equipment was evaluated for <br />those to be removed and those that could remain.. <br />C. Selection of Supplier <br />------------------------- <br />1. The committee interviewed several sales representatives. <br />2. Three companies were selected to make presentations <br />at an open meeting for parents and neighbors. <br />D._ Fundraising_A~proach <br />1. After the firm was selected, the PTA Fundraising and <br />Resources Committee designed a fundraising approach to achieve <br />the goal of $22,116. <br />2. Besides using profits from two Fall Fundraisers, <br />the Ice Cream Social, and candy bar sales, the committee <br />solicited donations from the community. <br />
