NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD <br />MINUTES <br />.AUGUST 5, 1987 <br />I. The meeting was called to order at 8:57pm by Chairman <br />Johnson. <br />II. Members present: Eichers, Johnson, Kalina, Olson, <br />Rose, Van Hatten <br />Members absent: Blomquist, Carlson, Seward, Council <br />Rep. Williams <br />III. Minutes of July 1, 1987 were approved as submitted. <br />IV. Correspondence <br />A. Council Report <br />None <br />B. Long Lake Advisory Committee <br />No Report <br />V. New Business <br />A. Tour of Eden Prairie Community Center, 7:45pm <br />Van Hatten commented that they didn't see anything <br />- - that wasn't on their list. <br />B. Tour of St. Louis Park Community Center 9:OOpm <br />Johnson commented that we should consider a Long <br />Lake Regional Community center. <br />Anderson said multiple communities could go <br />together with special legislation. <br />Kalina said the communities seem to have emphasis <br />on ice arenas and swimming, no senior citizen <br />facilities in Eden Prairie or St. Louis Park. <br />Anderson said that the primary initial support for <br />these community centers comes from athletic groups, <br />not from senior citizen groups. <br />Rose said that seniors like a place to meet and <br />eat. <br />Kalina, Van Hatten, Olson said they would like to <br />see Columbia Heights next month <br />Anderson suggested taking a look at Minneapolis <br />facilities built around gyms. <br />
