NSW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD <br />MINUTES <br />JULY 1, 1987 <br />Members present: Eichers, Johnson, Olson, Seward, Van Hatten <br />Members absent: Blomquist, Carlson, Kalina, Rose <br />The primary purpose of the meeting was to tour civic center <br />facilities in Brooklyn Center. <br />MOTION BY SEWARD, SECONDED BY VAN HATTEN, TO APPROVE THE JUNE 3, <br />1987 MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. <br />1988-92 CIP <br />The Board discussed the proposed CIP and requested the addition <br />of a sprinkler system to irrigate heavy use areas in Veterans <br />Park. <br />MOTION BY VAN HATTEN, SECONDED BY SEWARD, TO RECOMMEND THE CIP AS <br />AMENDED. MOTION CARRIED. (SEE ATTACHED). <br />The Board expressed a desire to have provisions for open space in <br />the development of the St. Mary's property. <br />Civic Center <br />Discussion included: a desire not to duplicate existing <br />facilities, questions about need for a civic center to serve as a <br />focal point for residents, whether the City has available land <br />and financial resources to build a center, concern that <br />facilities would be dominated by organized groups. The Board <br />"brainstormed" the attached list. <br />August Meeting <br />The August meeting will consist of tours of St. Louis Park and <br />Eden Prairie civic centers. <br />THE MEETING WAS ADJOURNED AT 9:25PM. <br />Attachments <br />
