NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD
MINUTES
APRIL 1, 1987
I. Williams gave his council report (see below) while the Park
Board waited for a quorum.
The meeting was called to order at 8:OOpm by Chairman
Johnson.
II. Members present: Blomquist, Eichers, Johnson, Rose,
Seward, Van Hatten
Members absent: Carlson, Kalina, Olson
III. Minutes
A. Minutes of February 3, 1987 were approved as submitted.
IV. Correspondence
A. Council Report
Williams stated the Centennial garden site had been
chosen; south of 694 just off of Silver Lake Road.
A new office complex is in the planning stages near the
southeast corner of Bell Pole. Phase one is planned
for this summer.
Council gave approval for curbside recycling. Council
discussion also included possibility of a single
contractor for waste removal in the City.
A very successful Town Hall Meeting was held. The
format was different from last year's. Instead of the
Council playing a large role, the Citizen's Study
Committee led the groups. The four different groups
were Parks and Recreation, Planning & Development,
Image, Police and Fire.
Park and Recreation issues were mostly relating to
programs. Comments were mostly positive. Concerts
seemed to be very popular.
B. Long Lake Advisory Committee
The committee has not met but the next meeting is
scheduled in April. The committee was expanded
by two. The New Brighton appointee was Wayne Eck.
