Park and Recreation Director, for a routine loss control visit. This loss -control service is provided through the city's participation in the League. of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust (LMCIT) property and casualty program. The:' purpose of my visit was to assist the city in the reduction of potential loss through loss control and risk management activities. I sincerely appreciate the time and courtesy _ .... extended to me at the time of my loss control~visit. . _ _, _ _. _. _ _ At the time of my service call, cve discussed a number of topics,.. some of which I would like to call to your attention in the written recommendation -form: DRIFTWOOD PARK 1-12/93 At the .time of my loss control tour, we observed the older style swings. at . Driftwood Park. I would encourage the recreation staff to evaluate the swing set for current guidelines. The swings should be at minimum 24 inches~apart while the perimeter distance for the impact absorption .material at front and rear should be at minimum twice the height of the swing seta (Reference r~ Umted States Consumer Product Safety Commission guidelines) ~ • ._" TRAIL SYSTEM 2-12/93 During my service call we also discussed specifications _ for: the trail systems throughout the City of New Brighton. We discussed the need for wider trails of at least 8 feet: With this design, the trails may handle different, styles of traffic which . _. could be anticipated as far as usage of the trails. In other cities I have worked with, there were concerns with senior citizens walking on the trails while youngsters were _ riding; bicycles very, rapidly.
