October 2, 1991 Park Board Minutes 2
V. New Business
A. Discussion of Property for Pazk Purposes
Anderson said the council informally discussed this after a council meeting. Anderson
talked to realtor, Bonnie Hagel. There is a possibility we could get the price reduced.
The property has been listed for two yeazs. Have had one person fairly interested.
Eichers asked what the council's thoughts were for it's use.
MHA said stop off pazk azea for cancers. Maybe small gazebo, grill, satellite.
Olson does the city have money available to consider a purchase like this.
Anderson said we still have money from water law suit in the bank.
Johnson what if you just spend about $35,000 or so and purchase small corner.
Olson would need a small interior parking lot.
Anderson said if Pazk Boazd considers this, we should ask the neighbors what they think
about the city purchasing it.
Johnson said the asking price is a lot of money.
Anderson said first contact neighbors, then go to the Council then they should direct an
appraisal. Maybe a three to four month process. By saying we are interested, we azen't
saying we would pay the asking price.
Olson wouldn't hurt to follow up on it. Taxes $3,0000 a yeaz.
Anderson would this make a nice pazk. If yes, we can start .the process.
Olson said walkers and bikers would use the azea. Would think it would get a lot of use.
Don't put in play equipment.
Cazlson said concerned about the political implications.
Johnson what if you put road in with cul-de-sac, sell it in parcels and with proceeds pay
it off. Would have about an acre and a half.
Anderson said he wouldn't want to bother with it. It would also be tight with the homes.
Kinzie said she likes the idea of pursuing it quietly. How would you notify residents to
inform them of the City's plans for the property.
