Volunteers iu Pubtic Safety (VIPS <br />Cornet. Woods reported the following: <br />a VIPS held their regular monthly meeting last Tuesday. <br />o Project Lifesaver is progressing nicely. Public Safety staff is now trained as Train- <br />the-Trainers. We now have funds to be able to purchase 3 antennas. <br />o VIPS will help with the blood drive that will be held at the Public Safety Center in <br />February. <br />o KidCare was done at the Family Service Center in January. In February, KidCare <br />will be done at the ECFE and at school carnivals. <br />o VIPS continues to do fmgerprinting. In 2006, they fingerprinted 1$$ individuals. <br />o Two VIPS will volunteer to work at the St. Paul Winter Carnival. <br />Deputy Director Ellickson reported the Project Lifesaver contract was approved with <br />minimal changes so it shouldn't be too long before this is done and the Froject Lifesaver <br />program can officially begin. <br />Public Safety /Homeland Security <br />Deputy Director Ellickson reported that Luis Alford was found guilty by a jury for <br />second degree homicide. <br />Deputy Director Ellickson noted that metal thefts are ,increasing; businesses are being hit <br />for their capper. <br />Comm. Elwell noted that his brother, Scott Elwell, was named Fire Fighter of the Year <br />for 2006. <br />Council Report <br />No report_ <br />Old Business <br />Timber Cruet Apo eats <br />Deputy Director Ellickson reported that the license for Timber Crest will probably be <br />revoked by Council as the high nurn~er of police calls continue at this complex. <br />A re-inspection will be done next week by the City Sanitarian and the Fire Marshal to <br />follaw~-up on outstanding orders. <br />12th Avenue NW <br />Comm. Kerns distributed a handout with options to discuss. Discussion included the <br />options of making no changes and attempt to reinforce the changes to parking in the 4cn <br />Street lot and use the VIPS to educate the disc golfers. The police reserves could monitor <br />
