<br />1 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held <br />Tuesday, August 12, 1986, at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Fifth Avenue N.W. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, Councilmembers Brandt (arrived at 7:47 p.m.), Gunderman, Schmidt, <br />and Williams <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also <br />Present: <br /> <br />Henry Sinda, City Manager <br />Les Proper, City Engineer <br />John Kelley, Chief of Police <br />Kevin Locke, Community Development Director <br />Margaret Egan, Finance Director <br />Maurie Anderson, Park and Recreation Director <br />Brenda Krueger, Community Development Specialist <br />Gary Berger, Administrative Assistant <br />Charlie LeFevere, City Attorney <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Williams, to APPROVE THE MINUTES <br />OF THE JULY 22, 1986, COUNCIL MEETING. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, with consent of council, received the Planning <br />Commission minutes of July 15, 1986. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br /> <br />Benke directed receipt of Resolution of Commendation to both the <br />New Brighton Fire Department and the New Brighton Police Depart- <br />ment from the City of Mounds View for their exemplary action in <br />response to the Mounds View oil explosion on July 8, 1986; and <br />cited Mounds View's assistance to New Brighton during the 1984 <br />tornado in New Brighton. <br /> <br />Kelley presented both David Hopkins and Robert Logson with <br />Civilian Service Awards for their assistance with regard to <br />burlaries. <br /> <br />Kelley presented both Officer Robert J. Jacobson and Officer <br />Gary W. Jones with Special Commendations for their action during <br />the Mounds View oil explosion; Kelley noted this Commendation is <br />the second highest award presented by the Police Department, <br />this occasion being the first time it has been awarded.
