<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held <br />Tuesday, May 13, 1986, at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Fifth Avenue N.W. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, Councilmembers Brandt, Gunderman, Schmidt (arrived at 7:54 p.m.), <br />and Wi 11 i ams <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also <br />Present: <br /> <br />Henry Sinda, City Manager <br />Les Proper, City Engineer <br />Kevin Locke, Community Development Director <br />John Kelley, Chief of Police <br />Margaret Egan, Finance Director <br />Maurie Anderson, Park and Recreation Director <br />Brenda Krueger, City Planner <br />Rick Wriskey, City Forester <br />Charlie LeFevere, City Attorney <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Williams, seconded by Brandt, to APPROVE THE MINUTES <br />OF THE APRIL 22, 1986, COUNCIL MEETING. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Commi ss i on ~Hnutes <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, with consent of council, received the April 2, 1986, <br />Park Board minutes; the April 8, 1986, minutes of the Human Rights <br />Rights Commission; and the April 23, 1986, minutes of the Citizen <br />Study Committee. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br /> <br />Wriskey stated the Tree City U.S.A. Award is a national recogni- <br />tion given annually by the National Arbor Day Foundation and <br />that, of the 672 awards given, in 1985 35 were given in <br />Minnesota. Wriskey stated that New Brighton has received the <br />award annually for the past four years, planting more than 800 <br />trees in the last five years, and presented the award to Mayor <br />Benke. <br /> <br />Benke received the flag and thanked Wriskey for his work to give <br />us that recognition, stating Wriskey can take personal and <br />professional pride in the fact that he had been an integral part <br />of the recognition. <br /> <br />Gunderman stated he has worked with Wriskey and feels he has <br />done a great job. <br /> <br />Benke proclaimed Thursday, May 22, 1986, as Pike Lake School Day <br />in the City of New Brighton, stating Councilmember Gunderman lS <br />the principal of Pike Lake School and has had a significant role <br />in the quality of program that is recognized not only locally but <br />throughout the country on a national level. <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Special Order <br />of Business <br /> <br />Tree City U.S.A. <br />Award <br />Report 86-88 <br /> <br />Proc 1 amat i on: Pi ke <br />Lake School Day <br />
