I

I

I

Council Nintues
April 9, 1985

Announcements & Updates, continued

Blomquist stated that he would not be able to attend the Ramsey
County League of Local Governments meeting on April 17th. The
meeting in May will be on economic development; a joint development
organization with some of the suburban communities in northern
Ramsey County will be put in place.

Benke asked staff if they had received a response to the downtown
study sytems. Proper stated he will be responding as soon as he
gets a copy of the letter.

Benke noted that there will be a copule of projects this summer
that will affect New Brighton (an overlay project on 35-W at the
694 interchange; joint sewer projects on Highway 88, County Road
"C" and 35vJ, and County Road "0" area; and another project on
35W in the County Road "C" to 280 vicinity) which may cause some
traffic problems.

Mayor Harcus suspended the regular order of business to allow
those in attendance who were not present during the discussion
on the street name change to address the council.

Bob Strobel, developer, stated he has a real problem with the A
Street designation which seems like an afterthought or a bingo
number. For a commercial/warehouse area perhaps the A Street
designation would be appropriate but for a residential area
it seems inappropriate. He reminded the council that the name
that is being suggested, Stony Lake Court, is in fact the legal
platting of that site which is Stony Lake Addition, and that Stony
Lake is less than 100 yards away from that location. Stony Lake
Court seems to be a naturRl nane for the cul-de-sac. Mr. Strobel
stressed that it is a new development with only one unit being
occupied at the present time and that this would be the most
opportune time for a name change.

Mayor Harcus explained there have been a number of complaints from
A Street residents in the past. He stated he does not have as much
a problem with this request as he had had in the past with other
street name change requests. The Fire Department and Police
Department personnel will be taken into advisement as changes are
requested. Harcus further stated that the entire A Street problem
is going to be addressed to try to find a solution that is agreeable
to everyone.

Audrey Amoth, 2352 14A Street, commented that she is having a very
hard time with mail delivery, the address being interpreted wrong on
her driver's license, and in general dislikes the 14A Street
address very much.

Page Eight

Ramsey County
League of
Local Governments

Traffic Study

Mn/DOT Updates

Audience Input
Street Name
Change
l4A Street
