<br />Council Minutes <br />June 11. 1985 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Business. Contamination Representation. continued <br /> <br />Blomquist noted that this subject arose at a joint-meeting of <br />staff. council representatives. and our legal counsel. and that <br />a recommendation was made at that time that businesses or indi- <br />viduals in the City of New Bri0hton who felt they wanted to <br />take. and had just cause to take. some action against responsi- <br />ble parties should be able to avail themselves of the informa- <br />tion that the City has generated on behalf of the damage that <br />was done within the City, <br /> <br />Harcus felt businesses and residents should be entitled to use <br />the LeFevere firm, <br /> <br />Schmidt felt that that would be appropriate. as long as we dis- <br />tinguish between a business or a rate payer in the City of New <br />Brighton versus someone outside of New Brighton but is still <br />impacted by the same water contamination. Schmidt further <br />commented there had been some discussion with other parties <br />who have talked about joining. and we have paid for a great <br />deal of legal research. education. fact-finding. and some of <br />those costs might be recouped from someone else that might <br />step in at a later date. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Motion by Harcus. seconded Blomquist. to ALLOW THE LeFEVERE. <br />LEFLER. KENNEDY. O'BRIEN AND DRAWZ FIRM TO REPRESENT RATE <br />PAYERS OR TAXPAYERS IN THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON WITH REGARD <br />TO CONTAMINATION. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes. Motion Carried <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />Sinda announced that the League of Minnesota Cities is now <br />meeting and will continue to have their Conference through <br />Friday. June 14th. at the Radisson Hotel in St, Paul <br /> <br />Sinda also announced that the meeting tonight was taped for <br />cable television by an intern; the tape will be reviewed <br />and perhaps aired on Channel 10 next week. <br /> <br />Schmidt asked staff to to assemble the costs for the camera <br />and other equipment. and suggested the Administrative Assist- <br />ant contact the North Suburban Cable Commission's Cable <br />Administrator.
