<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City of New Brighton <br />August 23, 1983 <br />Page Five <br /> <br />final amount of the contract being $426,022.65. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Councilmember Schmidt stated he felt that the <br />Council should respond to a recent letter <br />received by the Councilmembers and to a letter <br />published in the Bulletin, regarding the current <br />status as to the Council action with regard to <br />the Liquor Operation. He further stated that <br />he would like the letter to state that no action <br />has been taken nardoes the Council intend to <br />take any action that would lead to the sale of <br />the Liquor Operationi that the Council directed <br />staff to obtain proposals which would provide <br />for a process to independently address the issues. <br /> <br />Councilmember Blomquist stated that the time table <br />as far as making any decision regarding the Liquor <br />Operation, was three to six months which should <br />address any concerns as far as how fast the Council <br />is progressing towards making a decision relative <br />to the future of the Liquor Operation. <br /> <br />Councilmember Benke stated he would like to see <br />a draft of the letter to the Bulletin prior to <br />its being published. <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Blomquist to direct <br />staff to write a letter to the New Brighton Bulletin <br />addressing the citizen's concerns and to give the <br />Council an opportunity to review it before pUblishing. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Mr. Will Brown, 1205 Brighton Square, was present <br />and stated he was concerned about the promotion <br />for Brandywine. He further stated that he would <br />like to see a 10:00 p.m. curfew put on the band <br />playing outside, and that he would like the <br />Council to re-think the direction of the Brandywine <br />area. <br /> <br />Mayor Harcus stated that the Director of Liquor <br />had assured him and the townhouse association of <br />his cooperation. <br /> <br />Councilmember Benke questioned whether a dance <br />permit would be required for this occasion. <br /> <br />The Acting City Manager stated that the Manager's <br />Office had been receiving calls from members of <br />the Association, and that he assured them that the <br />situation would be closely watched and that there <br /> <br />Discussion of Coun- <br />cil Response to <br />Citizen Concerns - <br />Liquor Operation <br /> <br />Citizen Concerns <br />Regarding Brandywine <br />Promotion <br />
