<br /> <br />Minimum 10 years of service: An employee leaves the organization in good standing with a <br />minimum of ten (10) years of service with the City, then the employee is only eligible for 40% <br />of accrued sick leave (up to 384) hours to be provided as cash payout (unless the employee <br />elected to contribute their sick leave severance to the RHS plan, see Sec. 21-70). <br /> <br />Sec. 21~68. Worker's Compensation Policy. <br /> <br />(a) Worker's Compensation: If an employee is injured on duty, then the City's worker's <br />compensation insurance company will determine if the injury qualifies for worker's <br />compensation benefits. The employee can use sick leave during the interim if eligibility of <br />worker's compensation insurance has not yet been detennined. Once the injury is determined <br />eligible for worker's compensation, then the sick leave used for the first 40 hours shall be <br />instated to the effective date of the worker's compensation insurance. <br /> <br />(b) Other injuries: If an employee is injured off duty or is not covered by worker's <br />compensation, then the employee must first utilize all accrued sick leave, followed by accrued <br />compensatory time, and then vacation leave. Once all accrued leave is used, then the employee <br />'; can go on unpaid leave with the approval of the city manager. If the employee is out on unpaid <br />leave, then the employee is responsible for paying the costs of employee benefits, such as, but <br />not limited, to health and dental insurance. <br /> <br />Sec. 21~69 Post Retirement Health Saving P1o.n. Regular employees and regular part-time <br />employees are eligible to participate in the City's Retirement Health Savings Plan. Employees <br />must elect into the plan at the time of hire or during the benefits open enrollment period for the <br />next calendar year. Employees have the option of contributing sick leave into a City selected <br />post retirement health care savings plan, see Sec. 21-67 (8) and/or 1 % of annual base wage. <br />The Employer provides for a one time irrevocable election by the eligible employees to <br />participate in the plan.
