<br />(6) Personnel File. The City's official file for each employee that is kept in the administration <br />department. <br /> <br />(7) Demotion. The movement of an employee to a position having a lower payor less <br />responsibility than the position previously held. <br /> <br />(8) Grade. A category of job positions with a salary range including intermediate steps/rates. <br /> <br />(9) Good Standing. Not under suspension or given notice of discharge by the City Manager. <br />Provided required notification period for resignation or retirement. <br /> <br />(10) Grievance. A dispute or disagreement regarding the interpretation or application of this <br />Chapter. <br /> <br />(11) Immediate Family. The spouse and the following family members: parents, parents-in-law, <br />sister, brother, son, daughter, grandparents, grandchildren, son-in-law, or daughter-in-law ofthe <br />employee or spouse. <br /> <br />(12) Lay-Off. The temporary dismissal of an employee for an unspecified length of time. <br /> <br />(13) Municipal Service. Employment with the City. <br /> <br />; l <br /> <br />(14) Orientation Period. A trial period considered as an integral part of the initial selection and <br />examination process. <br /> <br />(15) Overtime. Time worked by employees in excess of forty hours in any single work week. <br /> <br />(16) Pay Range. The minimum and maximum rates of pay together with intermediate rates as <br />established for a grade or position. <br /> <br />(17) Position. A specific employment calling for the performance of certain duties and the <br />carrying of certain responsibilities by an individual. <br /> <br />(18) Promotion. The movement of an employee to a class having a higher pay range or more <br />responsibility than the class previously held. <br /> <br />(19) Separationfrom Service. An employee no longer working for the City due to resignation, <br />retirement, or death. <br /> <br />(20) Supervisory Employee. An employee having the authority in the interest of the City to, <br />suspend, assign, reward, discipline an employee, or recommend termination to the city manager; <br />responsibility to direct or adjust the grievances of an employee on behalf of the City; or to <br />effectively recommend any of these actions. <br /> <br />(21) Termination. A complete separation of an employee from the municipal service as a result <br />of discharge. <br /> <br />(22) Transfer.
