<br />.1) .. ol' <br /> <br />; <br />of' <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />2430 <br /> <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REGARDING THE STATUS OF LONG LAKE PARK <br /> <br />WHEREAS the city of New Brighton purchased 109 acres of I <br />.: land in 1970 for $650,000, and I <br /> <br />WHEREAS this land has been designated as a regional par~ andl <br /> <br />WHEREAS the site is being extensively damaged through un- . <br />authorized and inappropriate use, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the City of New Brighton desires its residents to <br />have an opportunity to utilize this land, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the County has been designated implementing agency <br />for regional parks in Ramsey County, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the Metropolitan Council has set aside $600,000 of <br />development funds, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS those funds are rapidly declining in purchasing <br />power, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the City is aware that the County has requested <br />operation and maintenance funding from the Metropolitan Council, <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS there is likely to be a delay of several years be- <br />fore this issue is resolved, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the city and the County entered into a joint pro- <br />ject agreement for planning of this facility in February 1977, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the City is attempting to determine its role in <br />development, maintenance and operation of this facility, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the Ramsey County Board has indefinitely deferred <br />action on committing the County to operation of a regional park <br />system, <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of New <br />Brighton indicates its willingness to operate and maintain a <br />regional facility consisting of the Long Lake and Rush Lake <br />sites and requests designation as an implementing agency. <br /> <br />Adopted this 10th day of March 1981. <br /> <br />APPROVED: <br /> <br /> <br />u~ <br /> <br /> <br />v-7.
