(i) Recognized school: Any school or educational institution. which is in good standing with the Minnesota Therapeutic Massage Network or the American Massage Therapy Association. which is liceflsed to do business as a school or edecatioflal iRstitetiofl either registered or licensed with the Minnesota Higher Education office. or accredited by a federally recognized accrediting agency. and which has for its purpose the teaching of the theory, method, profession or work of massage, which school requires a resident course of study of not less than se'/eRty (70) homs before the student shall be furnished with a diploma or certificate of graduation from such school or institute of learning following the successful completion of such course of study or learning. Section 5. New Brighton City Code, Section 15-207 is amended as follows: An applicant for a personal service massage license shall furnish a diploma or certificate of graduation from a recognized school which certificate or diploma required a resident course of study of at least one hundred fifty (150) hours. Section 6. New Brighton City Code, Section 15-181 is amended as follows: The purpose of this article is to regulate escort services, therapeutic massage pa:rlors salons, rap parlors and sauna parlors. Section 7. New Brighton City Code, Section 15-182(d) is amended as follows: (d) Therapeutic massage parlars salon: Premises at or in which massage is advertised, offered or performed to or for members of the public or a private club. Section 8. New Brighton City Code, Section 15-184 is amended as follows: No escort service, therapeutic massage ~ salon, rap parlor or sauna parlor shall be operated within the city unless such business is currently licensed in accordance with the. provisions of this article. A separate license shall be required for each place conducted, operated or maintained by any person engaged in the licensed business. Section 9. New Brighton City Code, Section 15-185 is amended as follows: No person shall perform or provide any service in conjunction with the operation of an escort service, therapeutic massage ~ salon, rap parlor or sauna parlor within the city unless such person is currently licensed in accordance with the provisions of this article. Section 10. New Brighton City Code, Section 15-197(e) is amended as follows: (e) Therapeutic massage salons Massage parlors and sauna parlors shall be constructed of material which is impervious to moisture, bacteria, mold and fungus growth. The floor-to-wall and wall-to-wall joints shall be constructed to provide a sanitary cover with a minimum radius of one inch. CLL96308 NE13 6-8 3
