Generally. <br /> <br />-r- <br /> <br />, . <br /> <br />The City of New Brighton Mayor and City Council wish to utilize members of the community <br />in an advisory capacity to assist themselves and staff in achieving City goals and objectives and <br />to ensure citizen ideas are well represented in the policy making process. Citizen advisory <br />commissions representing various functional operating areas are and will be established by this <br />Article. The general operating principles set forth in this Division apply to all commissions. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-57. Name. <br /> <br />All boards, committees, and commissions will be named or renamed "commissions." <br /> <br />Sec. 2-58. Commission Size. <br /> <br />All new commissions will have nine members. Commissions established before January 1, 1995 <br />will be allowed to set their own size, not to exceed nine, based on their new purpose, duties and <br />responsibilities established herein. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-59. Appointment. <br /> <br />The members of all commissions will be appointed by the city council. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-60. Removal. <br /> <br />Any member of a commission may be removed from office by a majority vote of the city <br />council. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-61. Compensation. <br /> <br />The members of the commissions will serve without compensation. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-62. Commission Member Terms. <br /> <br />New commission members will be appointed to three year terms. The expiration date of each <br />of the terms will be December 31. If a commission member resigns from any commission in <br />the middle of a term, the city council will appoint a new member to the commission to complete <br />the term of the vacated seat. Commission appointments will be varied so approximately 1/3 of <br />each commissions member's terms expire each year. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-63.
