<br />'. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. New Brighton Code Section 9-040, paragraph (c)(8) is amended as follows: <br /> <br />(8) One (1) campaign sign per candidate and issue on each frontage <br />is permitted from the last day of candidacy filing, or one (1) month <br />before the election, whichever is later. Such signs shall not exceed <br />six (6) square feet in area and shall be not more than four (4) feet <br />in height. Such signs are permitted on private property only and <br />may be placed only upon approval of the property owner. No such <br />sign may be located closer than seven (7) feet to the paved portion <br />of a street. Where the sign is situated not closer than one hundred <br />fifty (150) feet from the property line of an occupied residence, <br />the area of the sign may increase to thirty-two (32) square feet and <br />the height increase to six (6) feet; however, such sign must be set <br />back from the property line a distance equal to one-third the <br />distance of the district front yard setback requirement. Any sip;n <br />permitted by this parap;raph may be used, in lieu of other uses <br />permltted by this parap;raph, as a Non-Commercial Opinion Sign. <br /> <br />SECTION 4. New Br'ighton Code Section 9-040(c) is amended by adding new paragraph <br /> <br />(16) as follows: <br /> <br />(c) The following signs are subject only to section 9-040(e) and do <br />not require permits. <br /> <br />[Paragraphs 1 through 15 are unchanged.] <br /> <br />(16) In addition to all other siK1ls permitted under this Chapter, <br />each lot which is beinp; used for residential purposes may contain <br />one Non-Commercial Opinion Sign for each street frontaf;e. Such <br />signs are permitted on private property only, may be placed onlX <br />~on approval of the property owner, may not exceed six (6) square <br />feet in area or four (4) feet in heip;ht, may not be located closer <br />than seven (7) feet to the paved portion of a street, and must be at <br />least five (5) feet from any other privately owned property. <br /> <br />SECTION 5. The New Brighton Code is amended by adding new section 9-180 as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 9-180. Non-Commercial Opinion Signs in Commercial and <br />Industrial Districts. Any sinp;le sign or sip;nable area permitted on <br />a site 'which is devoted to any commercial or industrial use <br />(whether as a permitted use, accessory use, conditional use, or non- <br />conforming' use) may be used, in lieu of other s i Qnage" oe'rmi ttlHj:.tJnder <br />this Chapter, as a Non-Commercial Opinion Sign.
