<br />. ,J ':'" <br />, <br /> <br />il <br /> <br />l<io <br />it <br />, <br />~ <br /> <br />"." <br />"",. <br /> <br />-: ~ ..... <br /> <br />#' <br /> <br />ORDINANCE S04A <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 21-8.1 <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />ST^TE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />AN OHDI!MNCE AMENDING CHAPTER 21, ARTICLE I OF THE NE~l BRIGHTON <br />C I'ry CODE: <br /> <br />The Council of the City 'of New Brighton does hereby ordain <br />as folluws: <br /> <br />That the Code of Ordinances of the City of New Brighton, <br />Minneso~a, is hereby amended by adding a section, to be numbered <br />21-8.1, which reads as follows: <br /> <br />Section 21-8.1. <br /> <br />Investigation. <br /> <br />(a) It is the specific intent of the City of New Brighton <br />bJ prrlvide its ci tizens wi th public employees of the highest <br />inteqrity and backqround. To achieve this end, the city deems <br />it necessary for the City Manager, as appointing authority, to <br />be fanliliar with any convictions for criminal law violations of <br />prospective employees. <br /> <br />Further, it is the intent of the City of New Brighton to <br />restrict such knowledge to the administrative and investigative <br />staff ()f the Police Department and to the CitYt Manager. <br /> <br />(b) All finalists for appointments as city employees shall <br />be required, at the discretion of the City Manager, to be finger- <br />printed fur comparison with appropriate files, to submit to a <br />background investigation, and to give their informed consent for <br />the City of New Briyhton to conduct searches of criminal history <br />files as necessary. <br /> <br />(c) Upon appointment of the successful applicant for <br />sinqle vacancies, and upon appointment of all successful appli~ <br />cants to multiple vacancies, all criminal history information <br />conccrniny all unsuccessful applicants shall be destroyed.
