ORDINANCE NO 534 STATE OF MINNESOTA COUNTY OF RAMSEY CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER IX OF THE NEW BRIGHTON ZONING PERTAINING TO SIGNS. The New Brighton City Council does ordain: !1 i , That Chapter IX, Signs, is hereby amended as follows~ I I I I I I It is the intent of this chaoter to permit the use of signs whiChl are compatible with their surroundings and are legible while at the same time assuring that the public is not endangered or dis- tracted by the unsafe or indiscrimate use of such signs. SECTION 1. SECTION g-OIO. PURPOSE , SE::CT I ON 9"-()E:().. PE RM I TS R permit shall be required for the erection, relocation. repair or modification of a sign regulated by this code except those signs not requiring permits under Section 9-040. a. No sign shall be erected. modified or relocated or reoairs made costing more than fifty dollars ($50.00) without first obtail"lil"lg a pet'mit. Such permit will be void within three (3) months if the sign has not been installed. b. A permit may be obtained by submitting a completed application with the City Planner. c. Permit fee~ shall be established by City Council t'eso I ut ion. SECTION 9-030. DEFINITIONS. R. . Above roof sign. R sign, any portion of which is displayed above the peak of the roof line or beyond the outline of the building or roof as viewed from the front of the sign. b. Billboard. A sign erected and used for the primary puroose of advertising products, goods Or services other than those offered on the premises of the sign. c. Campaign sign. A temporary sign promotinQ the candidacy of a person running for a governmental office or promoting a position on an issue to be voted on at a governmental election. : ~ d. Canopy sign. R cloth or cloth like covering suspended over a window or door which displays a name or logo of the business within. e. Civic celebration. A civic event as designated by City Council resolution.
